Rick's Custom Nursery Photo Gallery
      Rick's Custom Nursery
was established as a  wholesale nursery in 1981 selling to garden
centers and  commercial landscapers throughout the Mid Atlantic
states.  Following Rick's back surgery in 2000, we were no longer
able to continue selling to garden centers and  forced to close our
wholesale operation. However, we couldn't stop growing plants!
We merely switched gears and focused on offering the general
public an expanded selection of some of our favorites and unique
perennials, trees and shrubs direct from us, the grower!
   Open House Information
Our goal is to provide the newest introductions and best cultivars developed
in the horticultural world. We are constantly searching and testing these
selections in our display gardens in order to offer an exceptional product to you!

«
Our annual Open House extends an invitation for you to tour our display gardens
and view the selections which are suitable for your landscape.

Over the years, we've become aware of the alarming trend of perennials being grown like annuals.
Frequently grown in heated greenhouses, over fertilized and forced for early spring sales, these
'chemically addicted' plants will typically suffer or eventually fail in the landscape.

Our hardy, robust plants are grown for a year, over wintered in unheated hoop houses and have never been
'forced'. We are committed to providing superior plant quality with the outstanding selection of top performing
hardy perennials, trees and shrubs we offer. You can buy from us with confidence!

   Proprietors:  Rick and Debbie Corrington

    We do it all!
We have no team of workers - we are the 'team' and actually prefer
it that way. Although our demanding 24/7 schedule doesn't permit much time away
from the nursery, we love growing plants and wouldn't have it any other  way.

Our two 'man' team allows us to be intimately involved in the day to day
production of all our plants and provide the TLC they deserve.

Rick identifying plants in the Michigan woods
When we are able to take a break in our production cycle,
you'll most likely find us working in our display gardens or
   exploring the woodlands.

Our interest in wildflowers provides endless enjoyment
whether we're challenged with identifying new plants or
   taking advantage of photography opportunities.

Debbie's Articles
In addition to my daily tasks at the nursery,  I was honored when Dave's Garden gave me
an opportunity to try my hand at writing! I joined the team of writers at DG (as it's referred
to by its members) who published daily articles about what else? Gardening!
If  you'd like
to read a sample of my articles,
. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I've enjoyed writing them!  Although I haven't written any recent articles for DG, plans are in
the works to continue writing for the website we're developing ~ our new Cubit!

In 2010 Dave Whitinger, the founder of Dave's Garden, established Cubits ~ A Universe of Communities where I
joined the enthusiasm of his new venture! When he asked Cubits members to help create a banner for his new site,
I was thrilled when he chose my design!
Visit Mid Atlantic Musings!  My favorite Cubit is Mid Atlantic Musings, where members share their hobbies, photography,
travels and of course - Gardening!

Visit Rick's Custom Nursery Cubit!   We've recently opened our own Cubit on the site and plan to develop Forums where our
customers and friends can ask questions or share their gardening passion with us. We invite
you to visit our Cubit, introduce yourself and give us your suggestions of what we might offer
to help you with your gardens!

Future plans are the addition of articles I'll be writing which might include everything from
our favorite plants to offering DIY instructions for Garden Art!

    Our Website:
Rick's Custom Nursery Photo Gallery
The website was originally developed for Botanical Garden Fair customers who
requested a reference for the plants we offer. Although our website does not offer
the ability to order via a shopping cart at this time, we've attempted to provide an
    uncomplicated site with easy navigation.
The website is updated regularly with
the new selections we offer and plant images are added to our Photo Gallery  »»

We've redesigned our Photo Gallery and will continue to add new photos of our
gardens: "Our Landscape...a Journey through the years". It's always amazing
to us when we look back through the photos we've taken of the gardens over the
years. We're constantly planting, expanding the borders or changing the themes of
the gardens as the landscape matures. We've also been busy developing our
arboretum to test the many species and cultivars of trees and shrubs we grow.
Our Landscape...A Journey through the years
We invite you to browse 'Our Landscape' photos and view our progress through    »»
the years. We hope you'll be able to take a few minutes and follow along with what
we've accomplished in our 'spare time'!

We maintain our website and Photo Gallery ourselves and always appreciate your
comments or suggestions.  Please feel free to
email us anytime!

Thank you for visiting Rick's Custom Nursery!
